VRChat used to be a wholesome online space where you could easily make friends, hangout, play games, and escape reality. However now, it has become a toxic cesspool of chronically online, entitled, power obsessed narcissistic creeps, mods, trolls, and drama. You can't go to any public instances without feeling like shit after. Every instance is full of kids spamming loud obnoxious soundboard sounds, mods with god complexes harassing you, 30+ year olds trying to have e-sex with you, and kids obnoxiously running up to you, trying to get reactions out of you by harassing you because they want to be like proximity chat. On top of the community being bad, VRChat the company is the shittiest company out there. They consistently lie to players, have shit moderation, and make the worse decisions possible. Like when they added EAC which killed mod support and hurt performance. They're also money hungry as fuck, adding micro-transactions to every thing they can think of, even though in 2023 they bragged about how much extra money they have thanks to "VRC Plus". I genuinely recommend avoiding this platform for your mental health's sake. There are plenty of other VR social platforms to check out. My current favorite is Resonite which has more freedom and customization than VRChat, as well as more advanced features, and a much more relaxed community.
