fun passtime game that's got the juice and good mechanics
got really easy once i unlocked the shield character
This is a hard one for me to judge, but honestly probaly just because I tend towards being a bit pretentious. This is a very fun vampire survivors/arachnoid/minimal town builder mashup. Like a lot fhtese games the main strategic choice you're making is upgrade choice as your characters level up in a run, though they will also unlock additional harvest/house abilities for the town builder interludes.
I suppose I should explain the gameplay loop. You start in town, choose an adventurer and descend into the pit where you play a modified brick breaker. You get upgrades that add new balls with new abilities, new passives, and you can combine and meld balls in different ways with varying effects. After completing a run you return to the town with the resources you have gathered and cam build new structures that provide benefits or upgrade old ones. This is an engaging loop and it is easy to get lost in.
I sunk around 40 hours into this game without even realizing it, and enjoyed it greatly. It is somewhat mindless, which affects my score a little but can definitely be a benefit and was what I needed at the time. I'd recommend it to anyone vampire survivors/roguelike heads looking for something new, but if you're looking for story or more active mental engagement you might want to look elsewhere.
This is a difficult one to judge becauase I enjoyed my time with it quite a bit and sunk more into it than I expected to, but looking back I don't think I'll be returning any time soon after completing the base game.
